Thomas Ball joined Austin Ventures in 2005 and serves as General Partner. Tom's investment focus is on early-stage information technology companies, with a primary focus on Internet, software, and technology-enabled business and consumer services. Before joining AV, Tom was an entrepreneur who founded a number of successful companies, including Openfield Technologies, which merged with Razorgator Interactive Group, where Tom was CEO, and eCoupons, where he was also CEO until the sale of the company to Lifeminders (NASDAQ: LFMN).
He received his MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in Finance from the University of Florida. Tom is also an active participant in the Austin community where he serves on the Boards of Directors for the Entrepreneurs Foundation of Central Texas, the local PBS affiliate, KLRU, and the Busby Foundation, which provides support for families of persons afflicted with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
